Craftsmanship up close

HOW A NOTABENE SHOE IS MADE
The design process begins in Copenhagen with research, sketches, and material selection. Each model is developed in close collaboration with our Italian factories through prototypes, fit tests, and adjustments until the shape, proportions, and comfort are precisely aligned.
Production takes place at renowned, family-owned workshops in Italy. Boots are typically made in Venice and Marche, pumps and sling-backs in Naples, while loafers, ballerinas, and sandals are produced in Tuscany. These collaborations are long-standing and built on a shared understanding of quality and craftsmanship, often spanning more than 20 years.
CRAFTSMANSHIP IN EVERY DETAIL
The process follows classic shoemaking principles. Material selection, pattern construction, cutting, assembly, lasting, sole and heel attachment, and the final finish and quality test.
The difference lies in the details. In the feel of the materials. In the precision of the stitching. In the balance between comfort and silhouette.
At Notabene, we prioritize craftsmanship and durability over mass production. It is the sum of the small decisions that makes the difference.
